As an Oregon local and a couples and family photographer who has explored every nook and cranny of this stunning coastline, I am thrilled to share some of my favorite places to visit for an unforgettable experience.

Cannon Beach: Iconic Views and a Quaint Downtown

Picture this – golden sands, iconic Haystack Rock, and the soothing sound of crashing waves. Cannon Beach is a timeless gem that sets the perfect scene for any adventure. Take a leisurely stroll along the shore, find an insanely cool hike nearby or wander through the beautiful art galleries and shops in their little town.

Must-See: Haystack Rock at sunset – the warm colors painting the sky make for a perfect photograph or the perfect time for a picnic with your love.

Eats and Treats: Swing by Driftwood Restaurant and Lounge for a romantic dinner with a view. Fresh seafood and local wines make this place a must try. The fish and chips are to die for!

Depoe Bay: Whale Watching and Charming Streets

For a dash of excitement and a whole lot of charm, head to Depoe Bay. This small coastal town is not only known for it’s resident whales but also for its intimate atmosphere. It is also home to the worlds smallest harbor and my favorite viewpoint on the Northern Oregon Coast, Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint!

Must-See: The Whale Watching Center to catch a glimpse of these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

Eats and Treats: Bay View Thai Kitchen. This small Thai restaurant overlooks the Worlds Smallest Harbor where you can sometime’s watch little seal pups play in the water while you enjoy their incredible green curry!

Astoria: History, Views, and Cozy Cafes

Stepping into Astoria Feels like a journey through time. This historic town boasts Victorian architecture, the iconic Goonies house, and panoramic views of the Columbia River. It is a haven for history buffs and hopeless romantics alike.

Must See: The Astoria Column is a classic, climb to the top and you get a full panoramic view of the town and the river. If you are into thrifting like me, find your way to Raintown Vintage Collective for a real treat (my favorite thrift in all of Oregon!).

Eats and Treats: Coffee Girl is my favorite spot in Astoria. It is on a historic pier where you can sip your coffee and watch the sea lions at the same time. Try ANY of their homemade baked goods. I have never been disappointed!

Newport: Lighthouses and Fresh Seafood Feasts

No Oregon Coast adventure is complete without a stop in Newport. With its picturesque lighthouses, bustling marina, and a lively waterfront, Newport offers a perfect blend of coastal beauty and maritime charm.

Must-See: Yaquina Head Lighthouse – a classic symbol of the Oregon Coast. It is truly the most beautiful lighthouse!

Eats and Treats: Local Ocean Seafoods is a seafood lover’s paradise. Feast on their fresh catches while enjoying an incredible harbor view.
